Deputy Denny Van Lawrence was honored and added to the James D. Hoff Peace Officer Memorial Wall in Reno on May 1 and 2, 2013. Deputy Lawrence who worked the Jackpot area was shot by a murder suspect during a traffic call in 1982. He survived the shooting, but spent the next 30 years in an assisted living facility. He passed away in 2012. Above are pictures from the ceremonies that took place honoring three fallen Nevada officers. Deputy Lawrence's daughter Anita Casamento and her husband, Rick, attended the ceremonies, along with Sheriff Jim Pitts, Undersheriff Clair Morris, Lt. Kevin McKinney and Administrative Assistant Armida Marin attended the ceremonies to honor Deputy Lawrence and Carson City Police Officer Vernon B. Carvin and Washoe County Lt. Glenn Barnes.
