The Assessor values all property subject to taxation. The Assessor is required by Nevada law to discover, list and value all property within the county. The property is assessed at 35% of its current appraised value. As always, the staff at the Elko County Assessor's office is here to answer any questions that you may have regarding your assessment. Please feel free to contact us at 775-738-5217 or you may email us at Assessor.
In addition to over 44,000 parcels of real property (land, homes, commercial buildings), the Assessor must value personal property of approximately 2,300 businesses from casinos to one person operations, over 4,800 mobile homes, 70 aircraft, and any other personal property which is taxable. The personal property taxes are collected by the Elko County Treasurer's office. Their address is 571 Idaho St. Rm 101, Elko, NV 89801. You may contact them at 775-738-5694.
The Assessor does not make the laws which affect property owners, nor is the Assessor mandated by municipal code. The guidelines for assessment and the tax rates are approved by the Nevada Tax Commission. The tax laws are made by the Nevada Legislature. Real Property taxes are collected by the Elko County Treasurer's office.
