Elko County's Primary Election

PUBLIC NOTICE From Your Elko County Clerk, Kristine Jakeman 

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to ensure the safety of the voters and the election workers, the decision was made by the Secretary of State and the County Officials to conduct the Primary Election by all-mail ballots. There have been many questions and uncertainty surrounding the election. The Elko County Clerk’s Office would like to assure voters that the election is being conducted with integrity and transparency. Elko County has 12 mailing precincts with approximately 1,600 registered voters, so we are accustomed to receiving mail-in ballots, verifying signatures and tallying the ballots in an honest and professional manner.

Following is the schedule for early voting and Election Day:

Early voting will be available at the Elko County Library, 720 Court Street, Elko, for in-person mail-in ballot deliveries, replacement ballot requests or same-day voter registration ONLY. The dates and times are as follows:

Saturday, May 23                                   10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Monday, May 25                                     Closed for Memorial Day
Tuesday, May 26 - Friday, May 29            8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 30                                   10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Monday, June 1 - Friday, June 5               8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Elko County Clerk’s Office, located at 550 Court Street, 3rd Floor, Elko, will serve as the polling location on Election Day, June 9, 2020, and will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The polling location is open ONLY for in-person mail-in ballot deliveries, replacement ballot requests or same-day voter registration.

Voting machines will not be available during early voting or on Election Day. All ballots will be cast on paper ballots.

Voted ballots must be dropped off in person by 7:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020 or postmarked by June 9, 2020, and received by the Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on June 16, 2020.
