WHEREAS, Elko’s Silver State Stampede is the oldest rodeo in Nevada with the local tradition beginning in 1913, when world famous bit, spur and saddle maker G.S. Garcia decided that northern Nevada cowboys needed a rodeo and the town needed the added entertainment and income; and

WHEREAS, today’s Silver State Stampede has grown into a multi-faceted, three-day event, showcasing the best of rodeo and ranch cowboys alike; and

WHEREAS, many of the other Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association events have already been canceled because of the China Virus; and

WHEREAS, the Silver State Stampede board of directors voted unanimously last month to continue planning for the 2020 event on July 10-12, 2020; and

WHEREAS, the Silver State Stampede board of directors has announced that the safety and health of everyone involved in the rodeo is its Number One priority and it will stay in close contact with the PRCA for advice and guidance; and
