More Information on the Vaccine and Who Is Eligible Now to Receive It

ELKO COUNTY COVID-19 VACCINE ADMINISTRATION UPDATE – 2/11/2021

Elko County continues to administer the COVID-19 vaccine in coordination with the Nevada State Immunization Program (NSIP) and local health partners, including Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital and Nevada Health Centers.  Since the start of the vaccine rollout in late December through February 2, 2021, Elko County has received an allocation of 5,145 first doses, including vaccine directly allocated to Smith’s pharmacy.  As of February 10, 2021, 5,015 first doses and 851 second doses have been administered for a total of 5,866 doses administered.

While the vaccine eligibility criteria will remain the same for the next few weeks, we are working closely with the State Immunization Program to onboard additional vaccine providers to allow for more access within our communities.  Our ability to move into the next prioritization will largely depend on vaccine allocation over the next few weeks.

Effective February 12, 2021, Walmart pharmacy will begin administering COVID-19 vaccine through the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.  Eligible individuals can schedule an appointment directly via the Walmart website once appointments are available.  Visit the Elko County website at https://www.elkocountynv.net/newsdetail_T4_R342.php to review the eligibility criteria.
